Date: March 24th, 1-4pm
Instructor: Sarah Gabbart
What You Will Learn:
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll get to know your sewing machine as if it were a new friend. You’ll develop not only a familiarity about what each knob, lever, doo-dad and whatchamacallit is on said machine but also learn skills like working with basic sewing tools and sewing a simple project out of cotton fabric.
Students will create one simple, chic tote bag as part of class, but leave with the knowledge to jump right in on other beginner sewing projects at home.
NOTE: Students must bring their own sewing machine to class. If you don’t have one, please contact Sparrow and The Nest before class to see if we can arrange a loaner.
This Workshop Includes:
Materials for your project: A simple, chic tote bag
Lots of encouragement and personal instruction
Refreshments and small bites included as always!
About the Instructor:
Sarah Gabbart has been sewing since she was 11 years old, whipping up everything from accessories to bespoke garments over the past 25 years. (Jeeze—it’s been that long? *faints*). She is the owner of marigold sewing studio, a studio focusing on beginner sewing classes, and the former owner of Sew Crafty, a well-loved local craft lounge that was open 2008-2011. She’s super excited to meet you, enthusiastic about helping you reach your sewing goals, and pumped to be teaching such lovely folks at a wonderful space like Sparrow and The Nest.
